UNS Organizes Student Management Skills Training for 2025 Student Organization Leaders

UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta hosted the Intermediate Level Student Management Skills Training (LKMM) for 2025 student organization leaders. This two-day event aimed to enhance the leadership and organizational abilities of student chairpersons across UNS. The event took place at UNS Inn on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23–24, 2025.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., officially opened the program. Several university officials also attended the opening ceremony. The Vice-Rector for Academic and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Fitria Rahmawati, attended the event. Prof. Dr. E. Muhtar, the Vice-Rector for Resources, also joined. The Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Ir. Dody Ariawan, participated. Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Internationalization, and Information, also took part in the event.

Strengthening Student Leadership Through Structured Training

The Director of the Student Affairs Directorate, Prof. Dr. Joko Sutrisno, M.P., explained the program’s leadership development goals. He stated that the Student Management Skills Training at UNS builds student leadership capacity. This year, 45 student organizations join the program.

He also outlined the four stages of LKMM. Those are: Pre-Basic, held during the student orientation program (PKKMB); Basic, conducted at the faculty level; Intermediate, organized at the university level; and Advanced, facilitated nationally by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek).

“We organize this training to equip students with essential skills in leadership, organizational management, and administration. The training also covers financial reporting and understanding the student code of ethics. This program also implements the Ministry’s recommendations,” he emphasized.

Focused Sessions on Leadership, Ethics, and Practical Skills

On the first day, participants attended sessions on leadership, entrepreneurship, the student code of ethics, and administrative procedures. Notable speakers included:

  • Endah Ayu Pamungkas, S.Psi., M.Psi., a psychologist, who presented leadership training.
  • Dr. Dwi Prasetyani, S.E., M.Si., CRA., CRP., Director of the Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship Directorate, who discussed entrepreneurship.
  • Dr. Sapto Hermawan, S.H., M.H., Chairperson of the UNS Student Code of Ethics Council, who delivered insights on the student code of ethics.

Meanwhile, the second day focused on practical skills. These included counseling services, budget planning, and preparing activity reports. Participants also practiced organizational administration. Berliana Widi Scarvanovi, S.Psi., M.Psi., Head of the Student Counseling Services Sub-Directorate, led a session on promoting student counseling services. By the end of the training, we expect student leaders to carry out their roles with professionalism and accountability. We encourage them to actively contribute to both the university and the wider community.
